The restrictions about where and when you can smoke have changed substantially over the few years and this is no different for vapers. Initially, there were little or, in some places, no restrictions at all. But this was always going to change…
There are currently no legal restrictions to vaping in the UK, but there are local laws and bylaws in force that prohibit vaping in some places. It’s unlikely that the Old Bill will care about where we vape, but many establishments and local authorities have imposed their own restrictions. Vaping isn’t for everyone and you can understand if people don’t want to be around vapers when vaping. Of your considerate of other people then the chances are you’ll be fine.
Nowadays there are plenty of hints to let you know where is and isn’t acceptable. If smoking signs are up, assume this means vaping too. If all else fails, just ask a staff member! The obvious places you can’t vape are in restaurants, bars, clubs, and indoor shopping centres.
If you can vape inside any of these establishments, make sure you’re conscious of the people around you. The last thing you want is being asked to leave because you’re cloud chasing, and someone complained. Remember, vaping isn’t for everyone and even if the vapor is pleasant smelling, people don’t want to be covered in it.
Driving Whilst Vaping
Vaping while you drive could land you with up to nine penalty points and a hefty fine of £2,500. If your car is full of vapor and you get spotted by the Police it’s likely that you’ll be charged with car less, or even dangerous driving. You are also responsible for those in your car so blaming it on the Mrs or your best friend won’t wash.
You will also need to consider vaping laws in places like planes, trains, and buses. Although you might be tempted to sneak a few puffs, you’ll soon found out by angry passengers or sensitive smoke alarms. The last thing you want is to be pointed out as the culprit for a potential fire in a plane. Disaster!
