Vegetable Glycerine
Given the above, it will be no surprise that Vegetable Glycerine is known as VG in the industry. This is much thicker and gloopy than PG, but much like its watery cousin, VG has been around for some time. This has also been used in the food and medical industry. Medically, cough medicines are the obvious example. So if PG provides a stronger throat hit, what does VG provide us with? Well, to be honest, not an awful lot. It gives us a smoother hit than what PG will give us but the main thing VG does is provide us with loads of vapour to play with. Again, the more of it on the juice, the bigger the cloud!
PROPYLENE GLYCOL
This is quite often referred to as PG by vape juice/e-liquid manufacturers and is a watery liquid that has been used in the food industry for a very long time. PG has been used in food products and has also been used in the medical profession, specifically in asthma inhalers.
In vape juice, PG acts as a carrier for the nicotine and the fantastic flavours you taste. Primarily, this is due to these being dissolved in the PG. This isn’t the only reason for PG being included in your vape juice because this is the main reason that gives you that throat hit which simulates smoking, by inhaling the vapour. For those that are just getting started in vaping, look for this ingredient to make sure you’re still getting that sensation. Although there are many different combinations of ingredients out there, as a generalisation, the more PG in a product, the stronger the throat hit.
Combining PG and VG together to create new and unusual juice is the aim of the game. The ratios of each can be hugely varied and generally depend on what you prefer. Some people like walking amongst the clouds and if that’s you then, aim for the high ratio VG juice and use it alongside your Sub Ohm device.
If, however, you’re not interested in the clouds and vapour and still look for that hit which is like smoking, as well as a bigger flavour, then head for the PG aisle.
