What are the pros and cons of vaping and why should you ditch the ciggies?
Well, we all know traditional smoking is bad for our health but its also one of the hardest habits to give up for several reasons.
The addiction to smoking is medically reported to be more addictive than cocaine. We all have different reasons for why and how we started smoking.
Growing up, my mum smoked Dorchester super-king menthol. She never used to smoke in the house or around us unless we were in the car or out and about, but I still hated it. At the age of fifteen and nine months I decided to join the army. Before then, I had tried a cigarette behind the back of my school with a few friends, but I didn’t like it. I did however, like the social aspect of smoking and yeah at the time I thought I looked cool! HAHA idiot!
One night, lying in a field on a training exercise at -12°C (Yes, that cold) a fellow private offered me a cigarette to keep me warm and active and that was the start of a downward spiral for me.
So that’s my story of why i started but we all have our own. Whether it’s peer pressure, stress, etc.
So back to the subject at hand; what are the pro’s?
Disregarding all the bad social media and false news, Vaping is at least 95% safer than smoking. Sure, you may cough and get a chest infection within the first few months, but all that crap in your lungs from years of abuse has got to come out somehow. Personally, I’ve found after a few weeks to a month of vaping, I felt a lot better than I ever did when I was smoking. I can breathe a lot better; I don’t get out of breath, I don’t get that horrible wheezing sound and no horrible stained fingers!
In a cigarette there are more than 7,000 chemical’s which we don’t know about or know the effects of these chemicals. We are inhaling poison.
In E-liquid, there are four ingredients. Propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, flavouring and, if you desire, nicotine.
The other benefits of vaping as a beginner are the savings you make in your wallet. Although, you may find yourself being swept up in your new lifestyle change and you end up buying all of the latest tanks and devices. Before you know it you have a different set up for ever day of the week! That’s without taking into consideration e-liquid, coils and batteries. But with a bobby basic kit, a pack of coils and a good selection of e-liquid, you’ll be happy for a good while, if not permanently.
So, what are the con’s?
I’d say the con would be the price to start vaping. By the time you’ve bought the device, any batteries your device needs, coil’s & e-liquid, you can easily spend £100 or more! However, the e-liquid you buy, depending on the size of bottle and how often you vape, can last a-lot longer than a pack of cigarettes. So, after your initial purchase you’ll save a small fortune.
I would recommend vaping to anyone who is looking to get off the cigarettes. Pop into a local vape store and ask for advice on what would be best for you. You don’t have to buy anything in that moment, but there’s no harm in getting an idea of what it’s all about.
